Suffolk high school football roundup for Week 4
SUFFOLK DIVISION I
Lindenhurst 49, Central Islip 0: The Bulldogs defense pitched its third shutout of the season. Host Lindenhurst (3-1) ran for 350 yards behind offensive linemen Josh Tarte, Igbinosa Eribo, Jonathen Fraioli, Chase Frole and Tarrin Mussillo. Reece Wrightington completed 5 of 6 passes for 140 yards and three touchdowns. He also had a rushing score. Ben Choden went 6 for 6 on PATs.
Brentwood 35, Riverhead 0: Cris Peralta finished with 270 total yards of offense, rumbling for 234 yards on 19 carries and four rushing touchdowns for visiting Brentwood (1-3). Peralta added 10 tackles and one forced fumble on defense. Keenan Walls Jr. added a 36-yard rushing touchdown, and Amari Wallace and Adonis Singletary finished with seven tackles and a tackle for a loss each.
Connetquot 43, Bay Shore 21: Vincent Feraca completed 17 of 29 passes for 324 yards and four touchdowns to lift visiting Connetquot (3-1). Andrew Amarando caught eight passes for 152 yards and two TDs. Javon Barnwell rushed for two scores and added a 40-yard touchdown reception. Kyle McLaughlin caught a 55-yard score. Reid Harvey had 11 tackles and Camryn D’Ambrosio had 10 tackles, including three for a loss and one for a safety. Brandon Hunter had an 85-yard kickoff return for a TD for Bay Shore (1-3).
Floyd 48, Sachem East 20: AJ Cannet completed 9 of 12 passes for 150 yards and a touchdown and rushed for 38 yards and two touchdowns on five carries for visiting Floyd (4-0). Ja’Quan Thomas carried the ball 19 times for 220 yards and three touchdowns. Geo Alvarez caught three passes for 59 yards and a touchdown. AJ Vurchio rushed for a 40-yard touchdown and connected with Gianni Spinelli for a 48-yard passing touchdown for Sachem East (1-3). Spinelli also rushed for an 8-yard score.
SUFFOLK DIVISION II
Northport 20, North Babylon 19: Enrique Hernandez punched in a 6-yard rushing touchdown with 40 seconds left in the fourth quarter before Luke Loiacono sealed the game with an interception on the ensuing drive for Northport in its home win over North Babylon in Suffolk II football Saturday. Hernandez threw for 186 yards, including a key 40-yard pass to Christian Campoli on the winning 85-yard drive in the game’s final two minutes. He also rushed for 88 yards and two TDs. Gio Valenti led Northport (3-1) with 10 tackles. Jordan Konig had a 2-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter to give North Babylon a 19-14 lead. North Babylon is 1-3.
Bellport 31, Copiague 21: Braydon Cipp completed 10 of 19 passes for 123 yards and two touchdowns to lead Bellport (3-1) to a home win. Cipp added 55 rushing yards on 12 carries. Michael Frankie had three receptions for 96 yards and a touchdown. Kingston John rushed for 93 yards and a touchdown on 19 carries.
Huntington 34, Smithtown East 14: Jacob Guzik had eight carries for 75 yards and two touchdowns and completed all nine of hispasses for 111 yards and one touchdown for visiting Huntington (2-2). Timmy McDonald had 12 carries for 85 yards and two rushing touchdowns. He added seven tackles and one tackle for loss. Tommy Kline had five receptions for 67 yards and one touchdown. He made six tackles, including one for a loss, and one interception. Titan Elysee had eight carries on 105 yards.
SUFFOLK DIVISION III
Half Hollow Hills West 58, Harborfields 0: Joseph Filardi completed 11-for-14 passing for 281 yards and four touchdowns, and added 70 yards and a touchdown on five carries for host Half Hollow Hills West (4-0). Anthony Raio caught five passes for 155 yards and two touchdowns. He also had a 60-yard punt return for a TD.
Jesse Brooks caught a 44-yard TD pass and added an interception. Jayden Smith rushed for 88 yards on five carries, including a 22-yard TD. Jerrel Jenkins had six tackles, including a tackle for a loss and a sack. Gurneal Parhar had six tackles with three tackles for loss.
Eastport-South Manor 34, Amityville 9: Max Ferraro ran 23 times for 268 yards and four touchdowns and threw a 43-yard TD pass to Cole Klein to lead visitors Eastport-South Manor (2-2). Klein also rushed for 23 yards on two carries. Jeremiah Luciano scored on a 12-yard run for Amityville (1-3).
SUFFOLK DIVISION IV
Port Jefferson 27, Southampton 24: Chris Diot threw a 3-yard touchdown to Brandon Verruto with 54 seconds left in the game to lead Port Jefferson (1-3) to a 27-24 road win over Southampton on Saturday. Diot completed 8 of 17 passes for 170 yards and three touchdowns and had nine carries for 163 yards and a rushing score. Verruto finished with six receptions for 140 yards and two TDs, adding seven tackles with a sack and three tackles for a loss. Owen Whiffen had 12 carries for 67 yards and added five tackles and an interception. Gavin Argyros made 11 tackles and Matthew Wengatz made nine. Liam Murphy caught a 20-yard TD pass. Southampton is 1-3.
Center Moriches 14, Hampton Bays 0: Shane Gallagher had a 32-yard touchdown reception from Richard Roberts in the first quarter and Brayden Hromada sealed the game with a 58-yard touchdown run in the fourth for host Center Moriches (2-2). Dan Heller had three sacks, Hromada made 12 tackles and Mike Gold and Gallagher each had an interception. Hampton Bays is 1-3.
Bayport-Blue Point 27, Glenn 7: Sean Coffey needed only four carries to log 76 yards and two touchdowns, helping to keep host Bayport-Blue Point (4-0) undefeated. Dylan Craig added a 1-yard rushing score and Cooper Fuller had a 49-yard rushing TD. KaRahn King punched in a 4-yard TD for Glenn (1-3).
Shoreham-Wading River 59, Wyandanch 14: Sean Casey rushed 20 times for 138 yards and three touchdowns and also returned an interception for a 40-yard touchdown to lead visiting Shoreham-Wading River (3-1). Noah Gregorek completed 8 of 12 passing attempts for 172 yards and two touchdowns while also running 10 times for 84 yards and two touchdowns. Anthony Mullen had 74 rushing yards and a touchdown on three carries. Gavin Cleary caught two passes for 85 yards and a touchdown, and Michael Casey added four receptions for 73 yards. Michael Iberger had a receiving touchdown. Dominick Correnthi rushed for a 56-yard touchdown for Wyandanch (0-4).
CHSFL
Iona Prep 48, St. Anthony’s 40: Gary Merrill ran for 205 yards and three touchdowns on 27 carries and completed 17 of 23 passes for 246 yards and three touchdowns for visiting St. Anthony’s (3-3) on Friday in the CHSFL AAA. James Taylor Jr. helped move the chains with eight catches for 95 yards. Will Hart added two receptions for 27 yards and a touchdown.
Fordham Prep 39, St. John the Baptist 33: Maxwell Bowers completed 12 of 19 pass attempts for 215 yards with 11- and 14-yard rushing scores, the latter of which came in first overtime to keep the game going for St. John the Baptist (1-2) in the CHSFL.
