Giovanniello throws no-hitter for Floral Park

Senior Sam Giovanniello pitched an 11-inning no-hitter with 26 strikeouts and seven walks to lead Floral Park (3-1) to a 1-0 win over Carle Place in a non-conference softball game. It was Giovanniello's second no-hitter of the season. Julie Irrizary singled home Riley Anderson in the top of the 11th inning for the winning run. Carle Place's Ashley Cole allowed three hits with 18 strikeouts.
Plainedge 5, Massapequa 0: Kim Nowak pitched a shutout, allowing five hits and striking out seven for Plainedge (2-0) in a non-conference game.
BOYS LACROSSE
Chaminade 10, Massapequa 9: Tom Zenker had three goals, including the game-tying score off a feed from Ryan Lukacovic with five seconds left in regulation and the winner 28 seconds into overtime to lead Chaminade (1-0) in non-league. Kris Clark won 20 of 22 faceoffs.
Harborfields 10, Longwood 6: Conner Coyle scored four goals to lead Harborfields (1-0) in a non-league game.
GIRLS LACROSSE
Long Beach 9, Plainedge 8: Liz Rourke won the faceoff and scored the winning goal unassisted for Long Beach (1-0) in the second overtime of a Conference-I game. Rourke had two goals and Jessica Piazza had three. Connetquot 20, Glenn 10: Torrye Zullo had three of her four goals and Jessica Cordano had three goals in a 14-3 second-half for Connetquot (1-0) in non-league.
Syosset 12, MacArthur 5: Freshman Morgan Lannig scored six goals and added an assist in her first varsity start for Syosset (1-0) in Conference I-A.
Baldwin 12, East Meadow 7: Allie Rogers had four goals and four assists for Baldwin (1-0) in Conference A-I.
