Taylor Miller's 25 points power Freeport past Uniondale
Taylor Miller had 25 points and hit all seven of her free-throw attempts in the fourth quarter to propel Freeport to a 57-55 win over Uniondale in Conference AA-I on Tuesday. Deja Hooks and AJ Smith each added 10 points for Freeport (8-2). Ashley Jara led Uniondale with 20 points, including six three-pointers, and Diamonae McLean added 17 points.
Roosevelt 45, Mineola 40: Zaire Reed hit a runner in the lane with just over one minute remaining to give Roosevelt (6-5) a 42-40 lead in Conference A-III. She hit three free throws to seal the win and finished with 13 points and 11 rebounds. Tiara Ware scored eight points, including a three with 2:11 remaining to tie the score at 40. Katie Priolo and Sam Venus each had 11 points for Mineola.Westbury 42, New Hyde Park 36: Kayla Bomani scored 16 points and had three assists and 10 rebounds for Westbury (8-5) in its Conference A-III win. Daijah Martin added nine points and 12 rebounds.Farmingdale 41, Hempstead 25: Lauren Hill scored a game-high 17 points and had five steals for Farmingdale (3-7) in its Conference AA-I win. Amanda Hausmann added 10 points and 14 rebounds.Kings Park 45, Deer Park 42: Emily Stephens had 16 points and 18 rebounds and Tiffany Slicklein scored 10 of her 15 during a 22-10 third quarter as Kings Park (10-3) overcame a 19-12 halftime deficit in Suffolk League IV. Emily Santoli had six points and five assists and hit two free throws with 11 seconds left to provide the final margin.
Riverhead 70, Centereach 62: Sam Dunn scored eight of her 28 points and Dezarae Brown had seven of her 20 points during a 24-14 fourth quarter to lift Riverhead (3-10) in League III. Dunn grabbed 10 rebounds and Brown had 16. Jackie Buzaid led Centereach with 29 points, including 15 free throws. Alycia Indence scored 11.
Harborfields 63, Eastport-South Manor 35: Allie Tunick had 14 points and Donasja Scott added 13 points and 10 rebounds as Harborfields (11-0) clinched the League V title for the eighth time in nine years, Tornadoes coach Russ Tietjen said. Kristen Kelly added eight points and 11 rebounds and Christiana deBorja chipped in 10 points and five assists in the win.Southampton 59, Wyandanch 43: Noele Hodges had 23 points, six rebounds and five assists and Sydney Katz had 13 points and seven rebounds to lead Southampton (3-7) in League VII.Our Lady of Mercy 57, St. Dominic 35: Desiree Gaeckler had nine points and nine rebounds, Marilyn Lehmuller had 10 points and eight rebounds and Shannon Brady added 13 points to lead Our Lady of Mercy (3-6) in CHSAA.
