Bobby Wescott went 2-for-3 with a solo home run in the fourth inning of Plainedge’s 1-0 win over MacArthur in a non-league baseball opener on Monday. Matt Rosenberg struck out seven batters and allowed four hits in 5  2⁄3 innings to earn the win. Santino Batista allowed one hit in 1  1⁄3 innings of relief to collect the save.

Carey 13, Sewanhaka 0: Justin Babiak struck out 12 in a five-inning no-hitter and Matteo Tufano hit a grand slam for Carey (3-0) in non-league.

Valley Stream North 7, Locust Valley 0: Jimmy Stroehlein struck out 15 in a one-hit shutout in Valley Stream North’s non-league opener. Gavin Ferreira hit a three-run double in the fourth inning and Anthony Rivera and Nicholas Lang each had two hits.

Bellmore JFK 4, New Hyde Park 2: Derek Yormack hit a two-run homer and a sacrifice fly, and his twin brother, Ryan, had an RBI single for Bellmore JFK (2-0) in non-league. Zach Adelstein struck out nine in five innings to earn the win. Eli Lowenstein struck out two for the save. Jason Torres homered for New Hyde Park (1-2).

Sayville 7, Islip 1: Tyler Brown needed just 70 pitches to strike out six in a complete game for Sayville (4-0) in Suffolk VI. Brown allowed one unearned run and four hits. Kyle Messina went 3-for-4 with an RBI and Andrew Law went 2-for-3 with two RBIs.

SOFTBALL

Massapequa 2, Farmingdale 1: Annalise Lane drove in Emily Balducci in the sixth inning to give Massapequa a 2-0 lead in Nassau I. Maeve Schiereck drove in Lauren O’Brien in the third inning for Massapequa (2-0). Mikayla Buckley struck out two and allowed five hits in a complete game. Julia Abbene struck out eight for Farmingdale (1-1).

Hicksville 11, Island Trees 6: Ava Middleton had four hits, three runs and an RBI for Hicksville (3-1) in Nassau III. Katie Sullivan added two hits and three RBIs.

North Babylon 15, Copiague 0: Nina Vandernoth, who struck out 13 in a five-inning perfect game, also went 2-for-3 with four RBIs for North Babylon (3-0) in Suffolk II. Kayla Denino went 2-for-3 with a triple and scored three runs.

SATURDAY

Bay Shore 7, Smithtown East 5: Emily Wolfe struck out five in 4  2⁄3 innings and went 4-for-4 with two singles, two doubles, two RBIs and two runs for Bay Shore (2-2) in Suffolk II. Tiffany Mendez went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and Kiramya Cabrera also went 2-for-4. Abby Hanson had three hits and two RBIs for Smithtown East (3-2).

Calhoun 7, Bethpage 6: Shaun Walters (two goals, one assist) scored the winning goal in double overtime for Calhoun (5-0) in non-league. Harley Finkelstein had two goals and an assist in the final minute of regulation to erase a 6-3 deficit and tie it at 6. Mark Restivo made 16 saves. Andrew Reinhardt scored three goals for Bethpage (2-3).

Glen Cove 10, Freeport 7: Nick Ladeairous scored seven goals for Glen Cove (2-2) in non-league. Mark LaRocca added two goals and an assist and Ben Conger-Kielbasa had three assists. Matteo Cameron made 11 saves. Josua Corbin scored four goals for Freeport (1-3).

Smithtown West 9, Westhampton 6: John Savino and Patrick Hyland each scored three goals for Smithtown West (3-1) in Suffolk II. Necco Cottage won 14 of 18 faceoffs and Dylan Bonasera made seven saves. Will Drake scored three goals and Charlie Beasley made 10 saves for Westhampton (2-2).

Miller Place 8, Babylon 7: Olivia Coffey scored two goals, including the winner in overtime for Miller Place (3-0) in Suffolk II. Mirabella Altebrando added two goals and four assists. Sophia Conti scored four goals for Babylon (2-2).

Comsewogue 7, Mattituck 6: Kamryn McCrary had two goals, including the overtime winner for Comsewogue (2-1) in Suffolk II. Jayla Callender had two goals and an assist, Gianna McNulty added a goal and three assists and Vienna Guzman scored two goals. Sofia Knudsen had three goals for Mattituck (3-1).

Sayville 12, Rocky Point 9: Sofia Cangelosi scored seven goals for Sayville (4-0) in Suffolk II. Mckenna Farrell added three goals. Anna Wood had five goals and two assists and Brianna Henke made nine saves for Rocky Point (3-1).

FLAG FOOTBALL

Commack 22, West Babylon 0: Sienna Olivares threw for 105 yards and a touchdown and rushed for 22 yards and two touchdowns for Commack in its first victory in Suffolk II. Lexi Adelman caught a 20-yard touchdown and Rylie Curran had two one-point conversion catches. Alexa Perri ran for 45 yards on 10 carries and her sister, Alyssa, had a tackle for a safety. Vanessa Gehnrich and Valentina Castelli each had an interception.
