Lorenzo Riddick blocked a 55-yard field goal with two seconds left to preserve Long Island Lutheran’s 34-32 win over Boys Latin (Maryland) in a non-league football opener on Saturday. Jacob Butler caught touchdown passes of 48, 60, 25 and 12 yards from Peyton Robinson. Butler caught a go-ahead two-point pass from Robinson in the fourth quarter. Kareem Grey added a 3-yard scoring run.

Clarke 34, Mineola 8: Matt Kurz threw for 176 yards and two touchdowns and added 29 rushing yards and a score to lead Clarke in a Nassau III opener. Jake Thakkar rushed for 90 yards and a score on seven carries and Nick Barco ran five times for 47 yards and a score. James Beckworth caught a 48-yard touchdown and Christine Destine caught three passes for 63 yards and a score. Dylan Vikara intercepted two passes.

Manhasset 27, Hewlett 7: Attif Heathington ran for a 25-yard touchdown and returned an interception 60 yards for a score for Manhasset in a Nassau III opener. Dylan Attard rushed for 88 yards on 14 carries. Marcus Davis had a sack, Brady Baulch had two tackles for a loss, Kyle Melkonian had an interception and Kingston Takahasi and Parker Madden each made five tackles.

North Shore 36, Oyster Bay 0: James Carmadella ran for 101 yards and two touchdowns and threw a 25-yard scoring pass to Jack Damphouse to lead North Shore in a Nassau IV opener. Ryan Lau rushed for 109 yards and a touchdown and Lacus Zhang added a 10-yard scoring run. Tommy DiPinto had a sack and a tackle in the end zone for a safety and Ian Frame had an interception.

FRIDAY’S GAMES

Division 33, Bellmore JFK 0: Timmy Stanley completed 7 of 13 passes for 201 yards and three touchdowns and carried three times for 67 yards and a score to lead Division in a Nassau III opener. Jason Dooley had eight carries for 83 yards and a score and caught one pass for 45 yards.

Kenny Griffin caught two passes for 61 yards, including a 42-yard touchdown. Justin Gesualdo caught a 35-yard score and Kevin Moeller had a 52-yard scoring reception. Anthony Stanco forced two fumbles and added a sack and Fateh Hira had an interception for the Blue Dragons.

Carle Place 33, Valley Stream South 6: Nick Moretta had 26 carries for 181 yards and four touchdowns to lead Carle Place in a Nassau IV opener. He also led the Frogs with eight tackles. Colin Driscoll ran for 66 yards and threw for 81 yards, including a 14-yard touchdown pass to Kosta Koutsogiannis in the first quarter. Nick Simone caught a 15-yard touchdown pass from Daniel Casey for South.

Port Washington 46, Uniondale 0: Harry Eynon completed 6 of 9 passes for 130 yards and two touchdowns and Christian Sarchese rushed nine times for 179 yards and three scores to lead Port Washington in a Nassau I opener. Owen Kirshenblatt caught two passes for 73 yards and a touchdown added five tackles and an interception.

Long Beach 2, Xavier 1: Dominic Mendoza scored the winning goal in the final minute of regulation off an assist from Nick Amantea for Long Beach (1-0-1). Dunia Sibomana-Rodriguez added a goal, assisted by Josias Saravia. Matthew Nunez made nine saves.

Chaminade 2, Amityville 0: Thomas Prince and Jack Veletanga each scored a goal to lead Chaminade in its season-opener. Antonio Testani had an assist.

St. Anthony’s 5, East Hampton 2: Christian Hall had two goals and an assist to lead St. Anthony’s (2-0). Ryan Lazaridis had a goal and an assist. Andrew Wicik and James Kelly each scored a goal.
