HIGH SCHOOLS / Roslyn defeats Mineola
Chris Mongeluzo's unassisted goal with 1:50 remaining gave Roslyn a 10-9 boys lacrosse victory over Mineola yesterday. Mineola's Devin Beresheim scored four goals and added two assists, while Jesse Itzler and John Werz each scored three goals for Roslyn.
Justin Tortalani, assisted by George Robertson (four assists), scored on a shot from the crease with 2:40 left to lift Manhasset over Port Washington, 10-9. Rich Tuohey (four goals) and Craig Hetherington (three goals, one assist) paced Manhasset's offense.
A goal by Bobby Curry with 4:05 to go enabled Baldwin to beat Wantagh, 7-6. Freshman goalie Michael Tripeta, playing his first varsity game, made 10 saves in the win.
Six goals by Paul Sclafani in Portledge's 11-1 rout of Hun (Princeton, N.J.) gave him 100 career goals. His 100th came in the second quarter on an assist by Tom Decker.
David Donatello's three goals and two assists led Lynbrook over Cold Spring Harbor, 8-5. Quint Kessenich made 13 saves to help Lynbrook to its fifth straight win.
In Suffolk, Jerome Hehir scored two goals for Northport, including the winner at 7:41 of the third quarter, in a 4-2 win over Huntington. Northport goalkeeper Tim Spollen stopped 16 shots.
Sachem, which was led by John Koller (three goals, two assists), scored in a 15-3
decision over Bay Shore.
Second-period goals by Dan Calichman and Kevin Hohner put Whitman ahead for good in its 8-1 win over Lindenhurst.

Ed Kancza collected five of his seven RBI with a single and a grand
slam in an 11-run first inning to help Floral Park defeat East Rockaway,
24-7. Kancza also homered in an eight-run third inning.
St. Mary's Ken Pacucki had a no-hitter through six innings and struck
out five in his 3-0 win over Long Island Lutheran. Pacucki, who finished
with a three-hitter, also drove in two runs by going 2-for-3 . . . A
three-run homer by Bobby Spence in the third inning keyed Locust
Valley's 13-2 victory over Wheatley. Marco Trento pitched six innings
for the win, striking out eight and walking none.
Ben Bocklet allowed only four hits and went 2-for-3 with a double and
three RBI to pace St. Paul's over Loyola, 9-5. Tom Raftery also went
2-for-3 and added two RBI for St. Paul's, which had 13 hits.
