High school sports roundup: Lacrosse, baseball, softball
Jack Geoghan assisted on Donovan O’Toole’s winning goal with 2:19 remaining for Kellenberg boys lacrosse in its 10-9 non-league victory over Roslyn on Saturday morning. Geoghan led Kellenberg (4-3) with six points, four goals and two assists.
Thomas O’Sullivan made 11 saves and Ryan Sarro added one goal and three assists. Josh Berger had five goals and one assist for Roslyn (4-3).
FRIDAY’S GAMES
Cold Spring Harbor 7, Massapequa 6: Alex Vitale went 16-for-17 at the faceoff X, and Matt Kammer made 12 saves for Cold Spring Harbor (5-0) in Nassau I. Dylan Reilly had two goals and Kevin Burns had two assists. Michael Jannotte made 14 saves for Massapequa (5-1).
Garden City 12, Wantagh 9: Luke Cascadden went 23-for-26 from the X and Charlie Koester had five goals and an assist for Garden City (4-1) in Nassau I. Joe Nicholson had three goals and two assists for Wantagh (3-1).
Islip 12, Sayville 6: Jack Whitehouse scored four goals, and Jack Rao had three goals and one assist for Islip in Suffolk II. Michael Vitale made 12 saves for Islip (3-3). Javen Taff had two goals for Sayville (4-2).
GIRLS LACROSSE
West Islip 9, Islip 6: Mia Nicolosi had four goals, and Ava Obloj had three goals and two assists to lead West Islip (3-2) in Suffolk II. Caitlin Barnes had three goals and two assists for Islip (3-3).

South Side 11, Wantagh 10: The Cyclones’ defense killed off a penalty in overtime before Charlotte Rathjen scored with 17 seconds remaining to lead South Side (5-2) in Nassau I. Sienna Connolly scored four goals, and Bobbie Creo added three. Sabrina Asadurian had five goals for Wantagh (4-3).
Plainedge 12, Locust Valley 10: Lia Villari scored five goals, and Madison Wade added two goals and two assists to lead Plainedge (5-3) in Nassau II. Tessa Matozzo had five goals and an assist for Locust Valley (5-1). Emery de Lauzon made 11 saves.

Half Hollow Hills East 13, Newfield 10: Jacob Perlman went 4-for-5 and Dean Perlman went 3-for-5 to help Hills East (5-1) overcome a 10-1 deficit in the fifth inning in Suffolk III. Patrick D’Alien pitched four innings of relief and struck out eight.
Whitman 4, Floyd 3: JD Duffy allowed one earned run and two hits in five innings before Andrew Buckshaw locked down the six-out save to lead Whitman (5-1) in Suffolk I. Lucien Saint Cyr went 2-for-3 with an RBI. Buckshaw was 3-for-4.
SOFTBALL
FRIDAY’S GAMES
Port Washington 4, South Side 3: Caroline Brock hit a walk-off two-run double in the bottom of the seventh inning to win it for Port Washington (6-3) in a Nassau V/VI crossover. Brock helped end the top of the seventh inning, spurring a double-play from short rightfield to home to set up Abby Trenaman’s diving tag. Trenaman then threw to second base to catch the trail runner. Brock finished 3-for-4 with two doubles and three RBIs. Olivia Kostka struck out seven in as many innings for the win.
East Hampton 13, Westhampton 10: Lydia Rowan’s triple in the bottom of the seventh plated the tying run before Alexa Schaffer won it with a three-run home run for East Hampton (1-4) in Suffolk V. Schaffer went 2-for-4 on the day with three runs and four RBIs. Colleen McKee went 4-for-5 with a run. Katie Burke went 4-for-5 for Westhampton (2-4) with two home runs and seven RBIs.
