High school sports roundup: Jack Camera walks off for Manhasset; more baseball, flag football, lacrosse
Jack Camera drove in Gavin Korfine on a walk-off single in the ninth inning of No. 7 Manhasset’s 1-0 win over No. 10 Calhoun in the first round of the Nassau Class AA baseball playoffs on Saturday. Luke Grillo pitched 6 2⁄3 scoreless innings and Mike DiOrio went 2 1⁄3 innings to earn the win. Manhasset (11-7-1) will face No. 2 Bellmore JFK in a three-game quarterfinal series beginning on Monday. Calhoun is 8-9-1.
Carey 10, Mepham 1: Matteo Tufano hit a grand slam in the fifth inning to lead No. 9 Carey over No. 8 Mepham in the first round of the Nassau Class AA playoffs. Justin Babiak struck out nine and allowed one run on two hits in a complete game. Jayden Gigante went 3-for-4. Carey (14-6) will face No. 1 MacArthur in a three-game quarterfinal series beginning on Monday. Mepham finished 10-6-2.
Long Beach 9, Jericho 7: Dan Defonte went 2-for-4 with three RBIs to lead No. 5 Long Beach over No. 12 Jericho in the first round of the Nassau Class AA playoffs. Alonzo Espinet went 2-for-3 with one RBI and Steven Misrok went 2-for-3 with a run. Long Beach (15-5-1) will face No. 4 South Side in a three-game quarterfinal series beginning on Monday. Jericho finished 7-12.
Division 13, Glen Cove 3: Caiden Siegel went 3-for-4 with two runs and an RBI to lead No. 6 Division over No. 11 Glen Cove the first round of the Nassau Class AA playoffs. Cody Brush went 2-for-2 with two runs, Isaiah Marino went 2-for-2 with four RBIs and Jefferson Biener allowed two earned runs on four hits in a complete game. Division (15-5) will visit No. 3 Garden City in a three-game quarterfinal series beginning on Monday.

Comsewogue 4, West Babylon 1: Kevin Schnupp hit a grand slam in the bottom of the sixth inning to lead Comsewogue (12-8) in Suffolk IV. Nick Zampieron struck out seven and allowed no earned runs in a complete game as Comsewogue clinched a playoff berth.

Whitman 41, Eastport-South Manor 20: Brittny Cisneros Campos ran for 177 yards and two touchdowns on 18 carries and caught two TD passes to lead No. 4 Whitman over No. 5 Eastport-South Manor in the Suffolk Class A quarterfinals. Madi Richter threw for 161 yards and four TDs. Iris Hoffman caught eight passes for 58 yards and a TD and had three interceptions. Brianna Verga caught seven passes for 62 yards and Katelyn Adams caught a TD pass and had an interception. Whitman (12-5) will visit No. 1 Half Hollow Hills at 4 p.m. Tuesday in the semifinals. Eastport-South Manor is 11-9.

Bay Shore 15, South Fork 8: Nicholas Alicanti had three goals and three assists to lead Bay Shore (11-6) in Suffolk I. Sam Stewart had a goal and four assists and Devin Dubendorf scored three goals.
