High school sports roundup: Mepham softball rallies past Syosset; plus baseball, girls lacrosse, flag football
DeAnna Cinquemani singled in Lauren Leo for the winning run to break a tie in the top of the seventh inning for Mepham in a 5-4 victory over Syosset in Nassau Conference I softball on Monday.
Katelyn Agulles had a double to drive in Avery Betancourt for the tying run earlier in the seventh inning for Mepham (3-10).
Cinquemani went 2-for-4 with two RBIs and Agulles went 2-for-2 with two walks, a double and two RBIs. Betancourt went 2-for-2 with two walks, two runs scored and two stolen bases. Giselle DeLutri pitched 1 2/3 innings to earn the win.
Oceanside 2, Bellmore JFK 1: Caroline Ferchland and Samantha Chaisson each drove in a run for Oceanside (9-6). Kate Hyland struck out three for the win and Ferchland struck out a pair to earn the save.
Massapequa 13, East Meadow 10: Samantha Portz went 4-for-4 with a two-run home run while Samantha Dodick launched a pinch-hit three-run homer to lead Massapequa (11-3) in Nassau I. Massapequa scored four runs in the bottom of the sixth to take the lead, courtesy of an RBI single from Maeve Schiereck and Dodick’s home run. Shea Santiago relieved in the fourth inning and earned the win.
Wantagh 2, Division 0: Lucy Olore tossed a one-hitter with 15 strikeouts for to lead Wantagh (10-3) in Nassau II. Jacqueline Mundy hit two triples and scored both of Wantagh’s runs, and Emma Priest went 1-for-1 with a double and both of the team’s RBIs.
Clarke 11, Mineola 10: Maddy Millman went 3-for-4 with a double, triple and two RBIs to lead Clarke (7-8). Ava Porth and Leila Thakkar both added two hits. Destiny Cervantes threw a complete game to earn the win.
BASEBALL
Bethpage 12, Hewlett 0: Joe Resta threw a five-inning no-hitter, allowing just three baserunners and striking out 10 on 75 pitches to lead Bethpage (2-10) in Nassau AA-III.
Long Beach 15, Herricks 0: Christian Parisa threw a five-inning no-hitter and struck out 11 to lead Long Beach (9-4-1) in Nassau AA-I. Troy DeFrancesco went 4-for-4 with two runs scored. Dan Defonte went 2-for-4 with four RBIs and two doubles. Matty Hayes went 2-for-2 with a double, two RBIs and two runs scored.
Massapequa 2, Farmingdale 0: Matt Homan’s two-out single drove in Joe Swinarski for the game’s first run and Christian George added a solo home run to lead Massapequa (11-3) in Nassau AAA-I. Cameron Zampolin tossed five scoreless innings with seven strikeouts for the win. Tom Harding struck out a pair in a scoreless sixth for the hold and Travis Gfrerer struck one out and pitched a scoreless seventh for the save.
West Islip 4, Sayville 3: Thomas Bomberger drove in Jake Romeo in the top of the seventh inning for the winning run for West Islip (12-4) in non-league. Evan Byrnes pitched a complete game, allowing one earned run and striking out four for West Islip.
GIRLS LACROSSE
Floyd 16, Sachem North 12: Emma DiMaio had six goals and two assists and Kayla Gilmore had five goals and an assist for Floyd (9-3) in Suffolk I. Addison Pittman had three goals and four assists for Sachem North (5-6).
Island Trees 9, West Hempstead 5: Kayla Tretola had three goals and an assist for Island Trees (5-7) in Nassau IV. Elizabeth Poirot had three goals and an assist for West Hempstead (4-4-1).
Jericho 11, Sewanhaka 7: Ryan Fistel had three goals and two assists and Ashlyn Thiterbordin had three goals for Jericho (5-7).

St. John the Baptist 15, Kennedy Catholic 8: Sophia Virgilio had seven goals and an assist to lead St. John the Baptist (6-10) in non-league. Violet Harrison added five goals with an assist.
Garden City 12, Oak Knoll (Summit, N.J.) 8: Kyle Finnell had five goals and two assists, Tori Ottomanelli scored four goals and Niamh Pfaff had 11 saves for Garden City (11-1) in a Gains for Brains non-league contest at Cold Spring Harbor High School.
Cold Spring Harbor 10, Floyd 9: Ryan Reynolds had five goals and an assist and Maggie Spehr added four goals to lead Cold Spring Harbor (9-2) in a Gains for Brains non-league contest.
FLAG FOOTBALL
MacArthur 39, Long Beach 0: Hailey Metzger, Sara Kealey and Caitlin Barry each returned an interception for a touchdown to lead MacArthur (9-1) in Nassau I. Mikayla Finamore had two interceptions while Meghan Wetzel and Marcela Sanchez each had one. Kealey threw touchdown passes to Metzger and Wetzel.

Northport 39, West Babylon 0: Grace Gilmartin had 117 passing yards and 104 rushing yards and five total touchdowns to lead Northport (8-2) in Suffolk II. Sarah Power had four receptions for 52 yards and two touchdowns. Quinn Sorel added a 30-yard interception return for a touchdown.
