1. PATCHOGUE-MEDFORD BASEBALL

A nice blend of speed and power gives the Raiders a legitimate shot at the Suffolk League I title and the Class AA crown. Albany-bound Matt Codispoti already has three homers, and Andrew Garcia is 2-0 on the hill. A middle infield of Brett Malm and Rich Ciufo has the Raiders off to a 6-0 start and they host unbeaten and Ward Melville at 4 p.m. Monday.

2. MANHASSET GIRLS LACROSSE

Led by All-Americans Lindsey Ronbeck and Erin Barry, the defending state Class B champs have been dominant. The Indians are ranked ninth in the country, according to LaxPower, and already have two wins over top-10 opponents. Manhasset beat No. 2 Good Counsel (Maryland) last week, 16-12. Manhasset hosts Connecticut powerhouse Darien on Wednesday.

3. SYOSSET BOYS LACROSSE

Impressive wins over Garden City, Port Washington, Northport and Farmingdale stamp the Braves (8-0) as the team to beat in Nassau Class A. Mac O'Keefe (23 goals) and Alex Concannon (19) supply firepower.

4. ST. ANTHONY'S GIRLS LACROSSE

Senior Ella Bonafede, who missed most of last season with a knee injury, has been impressive early as the seven-time defending CHSAA champs are rolling. The Friars (3-0) have outscored opponents 49-10. They begin a stretch of non-league games against elite opponents this week.

5. SMITHTOWN EAST BOYS LACROSSE

Hard-shooting Brian Willets (Suffolk-best 21 goals) and Dan Rooney (16) lead the Bulls' high-powered attack, which gets a boost from faceoff whiz Gerard Arceri.

6. KELLENBERG SOFTBALL

The Firebirds will contend for a fourth straight CHSAA state championship behind pitcher Katherine Piorkowski and shortstop Alexa Russell. Kacie Badaloto and Megan Harvey each had four hits and two RBIs in a 14-2 win over Mary Louis Academy.

7. HALF HOLLOW HILLS BOYS BADMINTON

Despite having 14 new faces, Half Hollow Hills (6-0) has dominated its first six matches. Nobody has come closer than 8-1, including defending Suffolk champ Miller Place. Half Hollow Hills hosts Commack (5-0) on Tuesday.

8. ST. ANTHONY'S BOYS TRACK

Junior Frederick Buckholtz won the 2,000-meter steeplechase in 6:25.87 at the Port Jeff Steeplefest Plus. Bryant Lewis won the 110-meter hurdles in 16.90 seconds at the post-Easter Classic.

9. BAY SHORE GIRLS TRACK

Bay Shore's quest for a fourth straight county championship is off to a flying start. Jordyn Piccirelli won the pole vault at the Deer Park Invitational, clearing 9 feet, 6 inches. Aviana Goode won the long jump, going 17 feet, 8.5 inches and the 100 hurdles in 15.29 seconds.

10. DIVISION BASEBALL

The Blue Dragons are 4-0 behind the pitching of James Varella and Anthony Papa. They are ranked number one in the small schools poll.

On the cusp: St. John the Baptist baseball, Mattituck baseball, Chaminade boys lacrosse, Massapequa softball.
