Sam Covington earned his second assist of the game when he found Tom Albertina, who scored the game-winner to lead Mount Sinai (5-4) to a 4-3 home boys soccer win over Sayville in double overtime in non-league play Thursday. Albertina also had an assist, and Covington added a goal. Arda Dincer and PJ Sheiffele both scored a goal in the win. Nick Watson scored two goals, and Shane Bauser added another for Sayville (4-6).

Port Jefferson 3, Pierson/Bridgehampton 2: Marco Baranta connected with Tomas Qepuri on a give-and-go, playing Baranta into the 18-yard box with around 11 minutes left in the game when he scored the game-winning goal to lead Port Jefferson (2-6) in Suffolk IX. Jaytee Driscoll-Stremich had one goal and one assist and Max Gordon added one goal. Luis Panifiel scored two goals for Pierson/Bridgehampton (1-6).

Copiague 3, North Babylon 2: Christian Cabrera drove a 60-yard free kick into the box, which took a deflection into the goal in the 69th minute to win the match for Copiague (4-5) in non-league play. Donovan Chambers scored two first-half goals in the win. Steven Vargas and Mason Kramer scored for North Babylon (1-9).

Wednesday’s Game

Hicksville 1, Syosset 1: Brayan Rubio Benitez hammered home a volley for the tying goal in the second half for Hicksville (3-2-4) in Nassau AAA. Emil Pacic made five saves. Cole Maguire scored a goal for Syosset (5-0-4) and Miles Nevins made seven saves.

GIRLS SOCCER

Glenn 1, Mattituck/Greenport/Southold 0: Krista Triolo scored the winner with less than six minutes remaining in the game off an assist from Azn Pineda to lead Glenn (2-3-1) in Suffolk VII. Nora Truncale made 11 saves for the clean sheet.

Longwood 2, Whitman 1: Delaney Israel scored twice to lead Longwood (6-2) in non-league play. Mia Drossel had an assist and Makenzi Hansen made eight saves in the win. Angelin Fuentes made 16 saves for Whitman (3-4).

Huntington 2, Smithtown East 1: Daniella Granito scored two goals and Kathleen Cocoman made six saves to lead Huntington (4-4) in Suffolk I. Charlotte Curtin and Caroline Mitek each added an assist in the win. Brooke Simonetti scored for Smithtown East (5-4).

East Islip 1, Smithtown West 0: Peyton Tidridge scored the winner with just over 18 minutes left in the game off an assist from Alivia Ancona to lead East Islip (5-0-1) in Suffolk V. Sophia Aurrecoechea made four saves to earn the shutout and Kalle Friedmann recorded three saves for Smithtown West (4-2-1).

Wednesday’s Game

Baldwin 2, New Hyde Park 1: Malia Robinson scored two goals to lead Baldwin (2-5-2) in Nassau AAA/AA-III. Dee Ikechukwu made 18 saves. Mia Vitellaro scored a goal for New Hyde Park (3-2-3).

Wednesday’s Game

Lawrence 3, South Side 2: Mailo Rozas had 41 assists and four digs and Jacob Hooks recorded 18 kills for Lawrence (6-2) in its Nassau II-A 25-21, 15-25, 22-25, 25-14, 15-9 win. Elijah Tolley had 14 kills and four aces. Corey Shakur had seven kills and six blocks.

FIELD HOCKEY

North Shore 2, Port Washington 0: Avery Fitzpatrick scored two goals off assists from Natalie Yoo and Lila Archer while Danielle DeMillio made 11 saves for the shutout to lead North Shore (1-6) in Nassau I.

BOYS BADMINTON

Great Neck South 4, Syosset 3: Shenglin Tang beat Brendan Jiang, 21-16, 19-21, 21-14, at third singles to lead Great Neck South (7-3) in Nassau I. The Rebels will take a four-game winning streak into October.

BOYS GOLF

South Side 6.5, Garden City 2.5: Danny Daitch shot a 1-over 37 on the front nine at Rockville Links to lead South Side (9-1) in Nassau V, snapping Garden City’s (9-1) unbeaten streak that dates to 2019.

Bayport-Blue Point 5.5, Sayville 3.5: Brady Gelling and Finn Capozzi both shot an even-par 36 and Kaiden Capurso shot a 2-under 34 on the front nine at West Sayville Golf Course to lead Bayport-Blue Point (7-0) in Suffolk V. Ray Woolsey shot a 3-under 33 for Sayville (6-1).
