Deanna Reimo’s RBI triple in the bottom of the seventh inning drove in Kim Ehman, who singled and stole a base earlier in the frame in Sachem East’s 1-0 victory over Longwood in Suffolk I softball Wednesday. Ehman and Reimo each went 2-for-3 and Olivia DeRose struck out nine batters in a one-hitter.

Oceanside 1, Seaford 0: Olivia Ikes pitched a shutout with four strikeouts and drove in Sophie Nesturrick in the top of the second inning for the only run for Oceanside (1-1) in non-league. Nesturrick went 1-2 at the plate and Sammy Chaisson went 2-3.

East Islip 8, Hauppauge 1: Kyra Kreuscher struck out 10 batters while allowing only one hit in six innings to lead East Islip to a season-opening victory over Hauppauge in Suffolk IV. Kreuscher went 2-2 with two walks and two RBIs. Alyssa Benvengo and Ashley Fevang each went 2-4 at the plate, with Fevang driving in two runs and Benvego plating one.

BASEBALL

North Babylon 4, West Islip 3: Justin Arciniegas scored on a throwing error in the bottom of the eighth inning to lead North Babylon in Suffolk League IV. Liam Daly hit a three-run home run in the bottom of the seventh inning to tie the score at 3 for North Babylon. Hayden Magliano pitched four innings in relief for the win. Connor Villano pitched five scoreless innings for West Islip.

Comsewogue 1, Kings Park 0: In his first career varsity start, Carson McCaffrey threw a shutout allowing two hits while striking out nine batters to lead Comsewogue to a season-opening victory over Kings Park in Suffolk V. Kevin Schnupp’s sacrifice fly scored Nick Zampieron for the game’s only run.

Oyster Bay 8, Carle Place 7: Dominic Carleo struck out eight and gave up two earned runs to earn the win for Oyster Bay in Nassau B/C. Jonathan Goldschmitt struck out five in 2 2⁄3 innings and allowed one run. Brendan O’Brien’s two-run single in the first inning opened the scoring. O’Brien scored two runs. Nathaniel Yee had two hits and two RBIs.

Sayville 6, Mount Sinai 2: A.J. Capuano allowed only one run in five innings with three strikeouts to lead Sayville (1-0) over Mount Sinai in Suffolk VI. Capuano also went 2-3 with a double, triple, walk and one RBI. Tommy Marino drove in three runs while Ryan Hillery went 2-4 with one RBI.

BOYS LACROSSE

Mount Sinai 16, Hauppauge 8: Joey Spallina’s six goals and six assists led Moun Sinai (2-0) in Suffolk II. James Carretta and Cole Marsala added three goals apiece for the Mustangs.

Longwood 7, South Fork 6: Tyson Taylor had two goals and one assist to lead Longwood (2-2) over South Fork in Suffolk I. Anthony Herrera and Najee Henderson each added one goal and one assist. Jack Cooper had three goals and two assists for South Fork.

Miller Place 13, Mattituck/Greenport/Southold 10: Anthony Bartolotto had five goals and one assist, and Scotty Seymour added four goals and two assists to lead Miller Place in a Suffolk II opener. Kenny Leen made 11 saves in the win.

Plainview-Old Bethpage JFK 11, Jericho 7: Thomas Ciraulo scored four goals and had one assist to lead Plainview-Old Bethpage JFK (2-0) in non-league. Tyler Leest added three goals and two assists.

GIRLS LACROSSE

Glen Cove 12, Malverne/East Rockaway 9: Ashley Brown (four goals) scored her 100th varsity goal to lead Glen Cove in Nassau Conference V. Maddy Kaffl added four goals and three assists and Ava Scagliola added two goals. Gianna Zangari and Bryanna Rathwell each scored a goal.

Floyd 11, Huntington 8: Kayla Gilmore scored four goals to lead Floyd (3-0) over Huntington in Suffolk I. Emma DiMaio added three goals and one assist and Cynthia Barnosky had two goals.

Longwood 11, Riverhead 8: Madison Ratchford led Longwood (1-1) with five goals in Division I. Ava Rivera had three goals and one assist and Ava Franco had one goal and three assists.
