Long Island player of the year: Matt Grace, Sachem North, Setter, Sr.

Matt Grace helped the Arrows to second straight state finals appearance, playing his third position in as many years. He had 717 assists, including 45 in a Long Island Championship victory over Massapequa. "Matt's the guy we trust with the ball. He runs the team and he's been the difference maker since game one," said Arrows coach Matt Rivera.

Nassau player of the year: Brian Maloney, Plainview JFK, Setter, Sr.

Brian Maloney played a pivotal role in helping Plainview JFK reach the county finals, as he was the team's only returning starter. Despite a loss in the final, he was named tournament MVP.

Chris Allen, Ward Melville, Outside hitter, Sr.

Chris Allen's powerful hitting drove the Patriots to the Suffolk Class A semifinals. He will be playing for George Mason next season.

Kyle Allen-Morabito, Eastport-South Manor, All-purpose, Sr.

Kyle Allen-Morabito played three different positions for the Sharks, who reached the Suffolk "A" semifinals. He had 145 kills and also excelled defensively.

Kyle Biggers, Sachem East, Middle hitter, Sr.

Kyle Biggers was one of the middles on Long Island, eclipsing the 150 kill mark for the second straight season.

Alec Helford, Massapequa, Setter, Jr.

Alec Helford's playmaking was instrumental in getting the Chiefs to the Long Island championship, and this was especially apparent during the Nassau County final, where had 45 assists.

Mike Ianniello, Bellmore JFK, Outside hitter, Sr.

Ianniello led the Cougars back to the top of the county, as he was named the MVP of the Class B county tournament. He had 15 kills in the championship match.

Rob Nolan, Sachem North, Libero, Sr.

Rob Nolan led the Arrows defense on its run to the state title match, recording 173 digs to go along with 27 aces.

Andrew Tsororos, Hauppauge, Outside Hitter, Sr.

Andrew Tsororos led Hauppauge to the Class B state title match, recording 22 kills in the county championship and 24 in the Long Island Championship.

Andrew Walsh, Massapequa, Libero, Sr.

Andrew Walsh was the backbone of Massapequa's defense, which dropped the fewest points of any team in Nassau county.

Coach of the year: Bruce Stiriz, Eastport-South Manor

Bruce Stiriz took the smallest school in Class A -- which only qualified for the classification by three students -- to a county finals berth, going 14-3 in the process.
