Our annual look at the top girls volleyball players across Long Island high schools as the fall 2022 season gets underway, in alphabetical order:

Nicole Antos, Bellport, MH, Sr.  

After 109 kills and 57 blocks a season ago, she is off to a quick start this season with 23 kills and 15 blocks through three games. 

Erica Arroyo, Smithtown West, OH, Sr. 

Arroyo had 197 kills a season ago and hit .471 in the Suffolk Class AA final. She will be the primary attacker for the Bulls this season.  

Alexa Ayotte, Port Jefferson, S, Sr. 

Ayotte is very adept at spreading the ball around. She had 281 assists last season and has 71 through three matches this season.  

Cassidy Barbieri, Sachem East, OH, Sr. 

A heavy hitter with smart ball placement, Barbieri brings tremendous power as a focal point of Sachem East attack.    

Kiera Birk, South Side, S, Jr.  

A strong all-around player, she had 105 kills, 220 digs and 354 assists last season. 

Carey-Jean Block, Seaford, OH, Soph. 

She had 103 kills, 149 digs and 25 aces in her standout freshman season.

Emma Bradshaw, Ward Melville, MB, Soph. 

A varsity starter since eighth grade, the 6-2 Bradshaw led the Patriots in blocks and aces last season. 

Stella Brittingham, Manhasset, S, Sr. 

This speedy court leader had 293 assists and 37 aces as a junior.  

Rebecca Costanza, Glenn, OH, Sr.  

Costanza already has 29 kills and 46 digs through two matches this season as she steps into more of a primary role.

Emma Cawley, Smithtown East, MH, Sr. 

She started this season with 16 kills in a match against Ward Melville. She was second on the team in kills and blocks last season. 

Lily Coan, Sayville, S, Jr. 

Coan averaged 26 assists and six digs a season ago as Sayville finished runner-up in the Suffolk County championship.  

Alexa Colondona, Connetquot, S, Sr. 

Colondona recorded 431 assists and 111 digs last season. She is expected to make an even greater impact this season. 

Victoria Condoulis, Mepham, Libero, Sr. 

She had 275 digs a season ago, good for seventh on Long Island. She also had 45 aces.  

Mikalah Curran, Commack, OH, Sr. 

An all-around leader for the Cougars, she led the team with 14 kills and six digs per match last year.

Sophia DeBonis, Bay Shore, S, Sr. 

This returning Newsday All-Long Island first-teamer had 402 assists, 169 digs and 104 kills. 

Peyton Elward, Harborfields, MH, Soph. 

Elward had 152 kills and 47 blocks last season, earning League IV rookie of the year.

Jessica Forneiro, Kings Park, OH, Sr. 

Forneiro had 15 kills in the Suffolk Class A title match last season. She will be a big factor in Kings Park’s quest for a 12th consecutive county championship.  

Sage Foster, Mattituck, OH, Jr. 

The driving force of the Tuckers’ attack averaged 12 kills per match last season.  

Cassandra Genduso, OH, Kings Park, Sr. 

The Newsday All-Long Island second-team selection helped Kings Park win its 11th consecutive Suffolk championship last season. 

Mackenzie Heaney, Ward Melville, S, Sr. 

A captain and three-year varsity starter, Heaney led the Patriots in assists, averaging eight per set last season.

Erin Henry, Port Jefferson, OH, Jr. 

She tallied 117 kills, 112 digs and 30 aces a season ago for the Royals.

Ciara Herrera, MacArthur, Libero, Sr. 

A strong player on both ends, she had 159 digs and 55 aces last season. 

Megan Hickey, Harborfields, Libero, Sr.  

A key defender for Harborfields, Hickey had 213 digs and 32 aces in her junior season. 

Julia Hromada, Center Moriches, S, Jr. 

Hromada had 372 assists, 84 digs and 27 aces in a strong sophomore season.  

Maya Kahn, Commack, OH/RH, Jr. 

She averaged eight kills per match and led the Cougars with four aces per match last season.

Ava Kelly South Side, OH, Sr.  

Kelly had 195 kills, 119 digs and 34 aces for the Cyclones a season ago. 

Caitlin Kenney, Mineola, MB, Jr. 

Kenney is an imposing force in the middle, leading Mineola in blocks last season.  

Lauren Konzen, Connetquot, Libero, Sr.  

The five-year varsity player contributes in various ways, recording 310 digs, 58 kills and 25 aces last season.

Julia Lawrence, Calhoun, OH, Sr. 

Lawrence totaled 301 kills a season ago and earned Newsday All-Long Island second-team honors. 

Sarah Lochner, Seaford, MH, Jr. 

She was the team leader in kills with over 170 last season, including 15 in the team’s Nassau Class B championship victory. 

Tina Lountzis, Wheatley, Libero, Sr. 

She is strong in the service game and her quick instincts allow her to anchor the defense. 

Ella Maldonado, Calhoun, S, Sr. 

The Binghamton commit led Nassau in digs last season with 435.  

Lorianna Mattutat, Whitman, MH, Sr.  

Mattutat is a team captain and the unquestioned leader of the Wildcats. She is strong offensively and is a great blocker. 

Myia Murphy, Farmingdale, Libero, Sr. 

Murphy was near the top of the county in aces and digs for a Dalers team that went undefeated in the regular season. 

Nicole Palmer, East Islip, S, Sr. 

The Newsday All-Long Island second-teamer had 102 kills and 263 assists a season ago.  

Marissa Pawloski, Plainedge, OH, Sr. 

This hard-hitting senior had 108 kills a season ago. 

Victoria Pfeffer, Bethpage, MB, Sr.  

An injury cut her season short a year ago, but Pfeffer had 56 kills and 20 blocks in only four games.  

Kira Pirrera, Smithtown West, S/OH, Sr. 

The three-year varsity starter had 128 kills and over 800 assists for the back-to-back county champions last season.  

Katie Powers, St. Anthony’s, OH, Sr. 

She tallied 230 kills, 100 digs and 50 aces in her junior season.

Brianna Quiros, Hampton Bays, S, Sr.

A captain for the Baymen, Quiros had 18 assists and seven aces against Center Moriches earlier this season.

Morgan Reese, Sayville, OH, Jr. 

Reese was a Newsday All-Long Island first-team selection last season, helping Sayville go 14-0 in Suffolk IV. She had 458 kills and a .323 hitting percentage. 

Sadie Reich, Wantagh, OH, Soph. 

Reich had 276 kills, 158 digs, 28 aces and 25 blocks last season. She was a Newsday All-Long Island first-team selection. 

Samantha Russo, Bay Shore, Libero, Sr.  

Russo, a three-year varsity starter, was the League II defensive player of the year last season after totaling 171 digs. 

Kayla Santo, Valley Stream North, OH, Sr. 

Santo averaged 12 kills per match for the Conference A/C3 champions last season.  

Ava Seidenstein, Sacred Heart, S/RS, Jr. 

She will be a key factor in Sacred Heart’s run at a CHSAA title, after the team reached the championship match a season ago.

Lexi Straglass, Syosset, MH, Sr. 

She is strong on offense and as a blocker, tallying 75 kills and 35 blocks last season. 

Alison Tsororos, Hauppauge, OH, Jr. 

The junior had 178 kills and 45 aces last season, including 17 kills in a playoff matchup against Half Hollow Hills West. 

Adria Vargas, Sayville, OH, Soph. 

Vargas had 99 kills, 63 aces and 218 digs in a stellar freshman season.  

Julia Walsh, East Rockaway, S/RS, Sr.  

Walsh had 211 assists last season strictly in the setter role, but she will also play on the right side this season. 

Mary Wolcott, Half Hollow Hills West, S, Soph. 

Wolcott had 31 kills, 25 assists and eight digs in a match against Westhampton last season.
