Good morning from the Times Union Center in Albany everyone, where in just moments the 48th annual NYSPHSAA wrestling championships will commence.

Before the action gets going, sink your teeth into this preview from today's paper written by Gregg Sarra.

In it, he talks about Long Island's five defending state champions (in weight order) — Mike Soria of Kings Park, Grant Greene of St. Anthony's (pictured), Nick Arujau of Syosset, Stephen Dutton of Rocky Point and Central Islip's Andy Rodriguez — and much more.

Dutton comes in as Long Island's all-time leader in wins with 223, while Greene last season was just the fourth CHSAA wrestler to win a NYSPHSAA state title in 29 years and the first from St. Anthony's since Lucas Magnani in 2000.

In all, there are 57 Long Island wrestlers competing on the Division I level this weekend (25 from Suffolk, 22 from Nassau and 10 from the CHSAA), and another 30 on the Division II level (15 from Suffolk and 15 from Nassau).

We'll keep you updated on all of them throughout the weekend, so be sure to keep this blog refreshed.
