The Big Ten: Wantagh in command

1. WANTAGH WRESTLING. The Warriors won the Nassau Dual Meet title for third time in four years, with a 42-18 victory, over Long Beach. Wantagh finished the dual-meet season 22-0. The Warriors won five of the six tournaments they competed in this season. Freshman Jose Rodriguez is 35-0 this season at 99 pounds.
2. SMITHTOWN BOYS BOWLING. The Bulls (12-0) capped an undefeated regular season in grand fashion with Gregg Reed bowling his third 300 game of the season and finishing with a 233.89 average to break the Suffolk single-season record.
3. EAST ISLIP GIRLS BOWLING. Their 1,044.9 team average was the best among Suffolk teams-- girls or boys, and the Redmen (12-0) wrapped up their perfect regular season with a 3-0 win over West Islip. With Kristina Freitag (213), Lena Sorrentino (210), Nancy Baione (209.9) and Jordan Kruger (203) among the top 10 averages in Suffolk.
4. WARD MELVILLE GIRLS FENCING. Ward Melville continues on the fourth longest winning streak in L.I. sports history as the Patriots beat Half Hollow Hills, 20-7, to push the mark to 153 straight.
5. ST. ANTHONY'S HOCKEY. The Friars defeated Chaminade, 6-1, to improve to 12-0 in the CHSHL behind Joe Loiacono's two goals. They are the first team to clinch a playoff spot after taking the season series from Chaminade.
6. GREAT NECK SOUTH SWIMMING. Sam Mo won the 200 freestyle in 1:47.34 and the 500 freestyle in 4:49.38 to lead the Rebels to a 97-78 win over Garden City. The Rebels improved to 8-0 and face off with unbeaten Jericho on Tuesday.
7. UNIONDALE BOYS BASKETBALL.Teams have been unable to contain the Knights'Shaquille Mosley (24.5 ppg) and unable to overcome their frontcourt size and depth, led by Kenny Woodard and Terrance Brown. The only undefeated team in Nassau had the week off to get ready for Farmingdale and Freeport.
8. CONNETQUOT/SAYVILLE HOCKEY. The T-Birds were idle this week but have three games remaining. The team can clinch first place in Suffolk if it wins out and rides its league-best defense to maintain the lowest goals allowed average in the league.
9. LONG ISLAND LUTHERAN BOYS BASKETBALL. The Crusaders showed their depth in a 74-70 win over St. Anthony's, as seven players scored at least eight points in building a 60-36 lead after three quarters. LuHi was led by Ryan Denicola's double-double (11 points, 16 rebounds).
10. BAY SHORE GIRLS TRACK. The Marauders are making their debut in The BIG 10 after a successful winter track season. They won the school's 21st straight Suffolk League II title behind the effort of Jessica Gelibert, who set a meet record in the 300, running a 41.60. Gelibert also won the 55-meter hurdles (8.72) and was the leadoff leg of the Marauders' winning 4 x 200 team (1:51.01).
