Erik Christensen, who hadn't played for the Rangers since Dec. 17, and was really an excess forward at this point, was traded to Minnesota for Casey Wellman, a 24-year-old right wing who will be assigned to Hartford. The Rangers also sent a conditional 7th round drfat pick in 2013 to the Wild,

Wellman, a Brentwood, Calif. native, was undrafted out of the University of Massachusetts. In 41 games over three seasons with the Wild, Wellman was 4-9-13 and a minus-7.

Christensen, 28, who had recently returned from a conditioning stint in Hartford after not playing since Dec. 17, was 1-4-5 in 20 games. He had 27 points in 63 games last season in New York, and will be an unrestricted free aganet this summer.

Good for Christensen to be playing in Minny. He's got some quick hands; witness his shootout success. Rangers visiti the Wild on March 27.
