The Rangers announced Wednesday they have signed forward Matt Rempe to a two-year contract extension that a source said carries an average annual value of $975,000.

The 6-9, 255-pound Rempe, who turns 23 on June 29, played 42 games for the Rangers last season. He totaled three goals, five assists and 67 penalty minutes. He served an eight-game suspension for his elbow on Dallas defenseman Miro Heiskanen in December, his second suspension in his two seasons. In 59 games across two seasons, he has four goals and six assists and 138 penalty minutes.

Rempe becomes the first of the Rangers’ 11 restricted free agents to re-sign with the club this summer. His signing leaves the team with between $14 million and $16 million in available space under the NHL’s $95.5 million salary cap for 2025-26.
