The Rangers have reached agreement with defenseman Matthew Robertson on a two-year contract, the team announced Friday.

According to a source, the deal is a two-way contract in the first year, meaning a different salary in the minor leagues than in the NHL, and a one-way deal, at the NHL minimum salary, in the second year.

Robertson, 24, was a second-round draft pick in 2019 and made his NHL debut last season, playing the Rangers' final two games of the regular season. He was the second of 11 restricted free agents to sign with the Rangers this summer, after forward Matt Rempe signed earlier this week.
