Post-game Xtra: Quotes, Stats, Comments:
Ryan Callahan on his third McDonald Extra Effort Award: “A lot of guys could have won it this year. Right through the lineup, everybody sacrifices themselves.”
Callahan on 50 wins: “It’s something at the end of the year you can look back on and say it was a good regular season, but we’ve just got to keep going and keep playing.”
Brian Boyle on Callahan: “That’s the way we all want to play, behind him. It makes us better players…We all try to follow suit. It’s a lot of fun to be part of it for a number of reasons---the guys in this room, the fans we have, the city we’re in. It’s kind of surreal sometimes. I have to pinch myself. We’re fortunate to be here.”
Boyle on McDonald: “For a man like that, with all he’s been through, to be proud of us, it’s humbling. You get goose bumps.”
Tortorella on the PP: “I think Gabby has done a better job of not holding onto the puck and letting the puck work. Hopefully, at this time of year, with all the struggles, we can keep some consistency.”
Henrik Lundqvist: “I was sharp for 59:45, so it was a good game for me.”
Lundqvist on the PP: “You can see when it’s tape-to-tape it looks like it has so much more speed and it’s creating that many more chances. The passing was really crisp.”
