Belmont Stakes race day information
American Pharoah looks to win horse racing's Triple Crown at the 147th running of the Belmont Stakes. Here is race day information for those looking to attend:
DATE: Saturday, June 6, 2015
TIME: Gates open at 8:30 a.m. The first race of the day is at 11:35 a.m. The Belmont Stakes is the 11th of 13 races on Saturday. Post time for the Stakes is 6:50 p.m.
TICKETS: All tickets must be purchased in advance via ticketmaster.com or by calling 1-800-745-3000. Attendance will be capped at 90,000. General admission begins at $15. No tickets will be sold on race day at Belmont Park.
LIRR: A $5 million investment by the New York Racing Association and the Long Island Rail Road has resulted in a refurbished transit rotunda on the west end of the Grandstand, as well as new LIRR platforms. Those new platforms will increase Belmont Station train capacity to 10 cars. A new travel plan designed by the LIRR enables it to move trains in and out of Belmont Station faster than in past years. Be advised that riders may still have to wait up to 90 minutes to board trains after the races because of the volume of people leaving at the same time.
ON-SITE SHUTTLE BUSES: Shuttle buses will be provided for those in outlying parking lots at Belmont (Pink, Yellow, Blue and Green). Shuttles will take guests to three specific drop-off points: main Clubhouse entrance, main Paddock gate, west Paddock game.
OFF-SITE SHUTTLE BUSES: Neighborhood bus shuttles will run approximately every 20 minutes between 10 a.m. and 9 p.m. in Floral Park and Elmont in an effort to lessen the amount of cars on local roads near Belmont Park.
The Floral Park Shuttle will travel from Belmont Park north on Plainfield Avenue, west on Woodbine Court, with a scheduled stop at Atlantic Avenue Extension and Tulip Avenue, adjacent to Lion's Park. It will then travel north on Tulip Avenue to Jericho Turnpike and head east, making a second stop at the Nassau County bus stop in front of 90 Jericho Turnpike. The bus will continue east on Jericho Turnpike and make its third and final stop at the Nassau County bus stop at Floral Park Place and Floral Terrace. The bus will then return to Belmont Park.
The Elmont Shuttle will travel from Belmont Park south on Plainfield Avenue across Hempstead Turnpike and on to Elmont Road. It will then turn east at Dutch Broadway, north on Meacham Avenue and across Hempstead Turnpike to continue on Covert Avenue. At Tulip Avenue, the bus will turn west and return to Belmont Park. The courtesy shuttles will stop at each of the Nassau County bus stops along the route.
