PARIS — Bluestocking put on an impressive burst of speed in the final straight to win the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe Sunday after only being added to the race only earlier this week.

The filly settled behind Los Angeles early on and her final effort left all her rivals in her wake at the 2,400-meter Longchamp horse track.

Bluestocking won Europe’s most prestigious flat race ahead of Aventure, with Los Angeles ending in third place for Aidan O’Brien and Ryan Moore. Pre-race favorite Sosie was fourth.

Trained by Ralph Beckett and jockeyed by Rossa Ryan, Bluestocking was a late entry following her victory in the Prix Vermeille.

“I know everyone overlooked her, but on form she had been at the top table and done it all," Ryan told Equidia channel. “She just proved she’s something else. I can’t really believe it, this filly has been something else to my career.”
