The primary obstacle to staging a proposed fight between WBA light middleweight champion Yuri Foreman and challenger Miguel Cotto at Yankee Stadium on June 5 has been cleared away.

Promoter Bob Arum and the Yankees have reached an accommodation with a family that scheduled a bar mitzvah for that day at the stadium, according to an Associated Press report.

The bar mitzvah is for Scott Ballan, the son of the lead bond lawyer for the financing of the new Stadium, the report said. Ballan's family had control of the video boards in the stadium, which would have interfered with the needs of the boxing promotion. Terms of the settlement aren't clear, but Arum previously indicated to Newsday the family might receive special considerations on fight night.

Terms of the agreement between Foreman and Cotto have not been finalized, but the bar mitzvah was the only obstacle to staging it at Yankee Stadium on that available date. Arum promoted the last fight at the old Yankee Stadium between Muhammad Ali and Ken Norton on Sept. 28, 1976.
