MSG Networks announced Thursday that Ed Cohen will be the new Knicks play-by-play man on ESPN New York Radio, succeeding Mike Crispino, who was not re-signed after last season.

Cohen, who will join analyst Brendan Brown, previously has served as an MSG play-by-play man for Knicks Summer League games, the Liberty and the Cosmos.

He also has called college basketball in a career during which he has worked for NBC, CBS, the Big Ten Network and NHL Network.

“Ed is an exceptional young voice with incredible versatility, and we’re excited to welcome him as radio play-by-play announcer for the New York Knicks,” Jeff Filippi, senior vice president of production and programming and executive producer, said in a new release. “Fans will really enjoy his play-by-play and his rapport with analyst Brendan Brown.”

Said Cohen, “I’m incredibly excited and grateful to be joining the MSG and Knicks family. As a lifelong New Yorker who grew up not far from where the Knicks practice [in Westchester County], it’s a broadcasting dream come true to now have a seat in the radio booth, and I’m thrilled to do it alongside Brendan Brown. I can’t wait to get started and see what the coming years bring for the franchise.”
