Given the power of the Yankees brand and the rise of the secondary market, the run-up to Derek Jeter 3,000th hit will be one of the most closely watched events in the history of sports ticket speculation.
Actually, it has begun already. TiqIQ has a Jeter Tracker (tiqiq.com/countdown/jeter/) that is following price fluctuations and analyzing the most likely games for the big day.
As of Friday morning, the site pointed to June 16 against the Rangers as its best guess. Average resale ticket price for that day: $88. For now.
