Paul Azinger will succeed Johnny Miller as NBC Sports’ lead golf analyst, the network announced on Monday.

The widely expected move will take effect when Miller retires after the Phoenix Open in early February. The move to Azinger allows for him to continue in his role as a Fox analyst for the U.S. men’s and women’s Opens, as well as working for BBC at The Masters.

NBC’s golf slate includes the British Open.

Azinger also will contribute to the Golf Channel’s coverage of the sport; it has the same parent company as NBC.

Molloy Solomon, executive vice president of content for the Golf Channel, said in a news release, “For nearly three decades fans tuning into NBC Sports’ golf coverage have been accustomed to a lead analyst that told it like it was, and that mantra will continue with Paul Azinger calling the action from our 18th tower.”
