Ray Romano delivered a futon to Ron Darling on Oct. 25, 1986

Here is a story I wrote for the Friday newspaper in which I speak to Ray Romano about working with Hank Haney for the Golf Channel's "The Haney Project," about playing a scratch golfer on TNT's "Men of a Certain Age," about playing a Newsday sports columnist who works in his suburban basement on "Everybody Loves Raymond," about why that show was set in Lynbrook instead of his native Queens, about his (and his children's) love of New York sports teams, especially the Jets, and about his delivery of a futon to Ron Darling on the day of Game 6 of the 1986 World Series.

Whoa, that's a lot of ground to cover in 650 words.

The best news is that I have now added a crucial piece to my collection of interviews with actors who play fictional sportswriters on TV.

It's a hobby of mine.
