WFAN, Yankees extend their broadcast deal
WFAN announced on Wednesday an extension of its broadcast and digital rights deal with the Yankees for coverage in both English and Spanish.
The station’s existing deal was to expire after the 2023 season, according to an industry source, but the Yankees now will appear on WFAN at least into the late 2020s.
The Yankees moved from WCBS-AM – a corporate sibling of WFAN – in 2014. The Mets, who were on WFAN through 2013, now are heard on WCBS.
Chris Oliviero, market president for Audacy New York, said in a new release, “2022 is our 21st consecutive season of broadcasting the Bronx Bombers [on Audacy stations], and we look forward to continuing to have the honor of being the soundtrack to more memorable and historic pinstripe moments."
WFAN said that late this season it will “launch additional year-round Yankees-themed content, included as part of station host Keith McPherson's weeknight program.”
