Every now and then, you hear about how athletes in other professional sports turn to MMA training for help in their own chosen line of work.

Vikings defensive end Jared Allen did it. The Jets and several hockey players on the Islanders mix it up a bit, as well.

Russell Martin, the new catcher for the Yankees and formerly of the L.A. Dodgers, told reporters in Tampa at an early spring training session Tuesday that he worked with Firas Zahabi this offseason.
