Master Francisco Mansur

If you’re a fan of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and its history, here is a video you must watch. It’s about 9th degree red belt Master Francisco Mansur and his student, fourth degree black belt Milton Regis. They run the Kioto Brazilian Jiu Jitsu schools in Port Jefferson and Sayville.

Of course, 9th degree red belt is impressive enough. But perhaps more impressive is that Mansur is one of only 22 people to receive his black belt from Helio Gracie, considered the father of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Mansur is just one of six outside the Gracie family to receive a black belt from Helio.

In the video, Mansur talks about how he was first introduced to Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. He also talks about getting shot multiple times while he was a member of the police force in Brazil.

Regis, who runs the school in Sayville, started training with Mansur in Brazil when he was 9 years old. As you can see in the video, the two remain very close.
