Tito Ortiz will not face prosecution on a domestic violence charge against girlfriend Jenna Jameson, a California prosecution spokeswoman said Thursday.
Jameson caused quite a stir late last month after her father called the police and had Ortiz hauled away from their Huntington Beach, Calif., home in handcuffs.
Prosecutors said there was not evidence to support any charges. Jameson didn't help her case much, giving conflicting statements to TMZ (and other media) cameras in the aftermath.
"Unfortunately, what actually happened has now been dramatically distorted and misinterpreted and remarks that both Tito and I made after the police arrived reflect the state of shock that we were both in," Jameson said.
Whatever really happened, only two people know. Ortiz's image isn't exactly stellar, but now he's likely to face more wrath and ridicule as a "wife beater" even though there is no evidence supporting such a claim against the former UFC light heavyweight champion.
