LAS VEGAS — Ryan Hall lost in the semifinal round on Season 22 of “The Ultimate Fighter.”
Artem Lobov lost his fight to even get into the house.
So, naturally, Hall and Lobov fought in the finale of “The Ultimate Fighter” on Friday night at The Cosmopolitan.
Hall is a jiu-jitsu expert. Lobov is a powerful striker with three knockouts on the show.
Jiu-jitsu beat striking Friday night as Hall controlled Lobov the entire fight and won a unanimous decision to be named the lightweight “Ultimate Fighter” winner of Season 22.
"Artem is one of the toughest things on two feet I've come across," Hall said.
So how exactly did these two come to meet in the finale?
Lobov was brought back on to the show at the beginning when coaches Conor McGregor and Urijah Faber each was allowed to pick one losing fighter to keep for the show.
Hall took the place of Saul Rogers, who beat Hall in the semifinals, after Rogers had visa issues and couldn’t get back into the country from Great Britain.
"Ryan did what he had to do," Lobov said. "I hope the UFC will have me back and give me another chance, but I won't blame them if they don't. Maybe I'm not meant to do things first time, it took me two attempts to get into the house and maybe this is the way it's meant to be. If the UFC gives me another chance I'll give the fans something to cheer for.”
