UFC finds new date for Jay Hieron-Jake Ellenberger fight
So many things happen to Jay Hieron. Percentage-wise, "The Thoroughbred" probably leads the league in adverse scenarios.
He got hit with another one of them Thursday afternoon when the UFC canceled its entire UFC 151 fight card scheduled for Sept. 1 in Las Vegas. Dan Henderson injured his knee and his opponent, light heavyweight champion Jon Jones declined to fight replacement opponent Chael Sonnen.
The short notice forced UFC to scrap the entire lineup of fights, including Hieron's return to the UFC after seven years. The Freeport native was supposed to fight Jake Ellenberger.
That fight, however, has already been rescheduled as the co-main event at UFC on FX 5 in Minneapolis on Oct. 5. It will share top billing with Travis Browne vs. Antonio Silva.
