Andres Flores was loaned by Isidro Metapan to the Cosmos for six months, but the El Salvadoran midfielder wants to make the move permanent. He has been known as an impact player, recording his first Cosmos goal in a 2-1 win at Atlanta Aug. 9. Flores, who turns 24 next Sunday, scored to help eliminate the U.S. from the 2012 Olympic qualifying tournament. He is on El Salvador national team's provisional roster for next month's Central American Cup (qualifying tournament for the 2015 CONCACAF Gold Cup).

How did your loan to the Cosmos come about?

"It's a six-month loan. They contacted my agent. I was happy because I know the history of the club and all the great players who played here. I was really interested to come to see what happens here."

Would you like to see the move become permanent?

"I am having a real good time here. I am having good relationships with the other players. I would like to stay more time here."

What is the most memorable moment in your soccer career?

"When I played against Spain for the national team . It was a really nice experience. Playing against those soccer stars was huge for me. I really enjoyed that game. Those moments don't always happen. You have to enjoy it. You have to do your best."

Do you hope to be picked for the final roster for the Central American Cup?

"I really hope to. I always said that being on the national team, I feel really proud of it. It's something new, it's something special. I really want it. I want to go to the cup. But I have to do my best here, good games and all that."

In 2012 you eliminated the host United States from going to the Olympics. How big a deal was that?

"Crazy. That was huge for us. The United States was the favorite. If we lost that game, we were out. All those things came together. We fought all game and we qualified to the next round. We eliminated the United States so it was a great night for us. People were really happy for us. Maybe the national team players earned the respect from the El Salvadoran people."

What are the Cosmos' chances of reaching the playoffs?

"We have one of the best teams in the league. We have a lot of chances to reach it. We need to improve a few things on the attacking side. We're working on that. We're not that worried. We're just working, working and working."

How was your experience at the recent El Salvador parade?

"It was really nice to see. It's always good when you meet people from your country in other countries. That makes me really happy and really proud."
