Lyon fans jeer their team after a 2-0 loss to Monaco in French league

PARIS — Monaco secured its second straight win in the French league on Saturday with a 2-0 victory over Lyon.

Both goals came in the second half from two young talents, 19-year-old Eliesse Ben Seghir of Morocco and 20-year-old Lamine Camara of Senegal.

Camara got his second yellow card deep in stoppage time but Monaco held on to their lead.

Lyon remains goalless after losing again. The frustration of the fans was clear as boos echoed through the Parc OL stadium at the final whistle.

Also Saturday, Lille beat newly promoted Angers 2-0. Thomas Meunier, the Belgium defender who joined Lille during the summer transfer window, opened the scoring in the first half. Despite a late push from Angers in the second half, Mohamed Bayo secured the win with a clinical finish in stoppage time following a strong counterattack.

Lille’s victory puts the club level with Paris Saint-Germain and Monaco at the top of the standings, all with six points. PSG leads on goal difference at this early stage.

Angers, still searching for its first win since returning to Ligue 1, remains near the bottom of the table.

Le Havre defeated Saint-Etienne 2-0 in the late game with a penalty from midfielder Abdoulaye Touré and a header from team captain Arouna Sangante. It was Le Havre's first win of the season.

Saint-Etienne, a historic club in France which rejoined the top tier after a quick spell in Ligue 2, is still without a win this season.
