MAINZ, Germany — Tim Kleindienst scored and Borussia Moenchengladbach came back from conceding an own goal to draw at Mainz 1-1 in the Bundesliga on Friday.

Stefan Lainer’s own goal 10 minutes into the second half put Mainz ahead and raised the prospect of a first home win in five games.

But Kleindienst stole between two defenders to head home two minutes later.

His sixth goal puts him behind only Harry Kane and Eintracht Frankfurt’s Omar Marmoush on the Bundesliga scoring chart.

The result was another disappointment for Mainz, for which its top goal-scorer Jonathan Burkardt limped off after 20 minutes.

Friday’s point was only its second at home from a possible 15 and the home side had goalkeeper Robin Zentner to thank with a fine display that thwarted Moenchengladbach forwards on several occasions.

Moenchengladbach moved into ninth while Mainz was three places behind.
