Newsday's annual list of the top boys track and field athletes as the 2024 spring season unfolds. Athletes are listed in alphabetical order, and stats are from last spring unless otherwise noted.

Xavier Ali, Whitman, Jr.

Ali tossed 49 feet, 1 1/2 inches to win the shot put at last year’s outdoor Suffolk Class AA Championships.

Douglas Antaky, Smithtown West, Sr.

Newsday’s 2023 cross country Runner of the Year ran 3,200 meters in 9:37.32 at last spring’s outdoor state championships.

Jess Joe Augustine, Mt. Sinai, Sr.

Augustine won Suffolk championships in the 1,600 and 3,200 last spring.

Kevin Beltran, Valley Stream North, Sr.

Beltran finished second in both the 1,600 meters and 3,200 meters at last year’s outdoor Nassau Class A championships with times of 4:23.55 and 9:48.38.

Tristan Brown, Baldwin, Sr.

Tristan Brown ran 55.61 and placed seventh in the Division I 400-meter hurdles at the outdoor state championships last year.

Xavier Bryant, Center Moriches, Sr.

Bryant placed 15th in 39 feet, 3 1/4 inches in the Division II triple jump at the outdoor state championships last year.

Sam Byrd, Commack, Sr.

Byrd placed third in the 3,200 in 9:38.36 at the Suffolk Class AA championships last spring.

Desmond Calderon, Longwood, Sr.

Calderon ran the Division I 400 meters in 49.55 seconds, good for ninth, at the outdoor state championships.

Rocco Carpinello, West Islip, Sr.

Carpinello finished second in the triple jump, flying 46 feet, seven inches,  at last year’s outdoor state championships.

James Ciaccio, St. Anthony’s, Jr.

Ciaccio ran the 600 meters in 1:20.42 to capture third place at the indoor state championships. Ciaccio’s 4x800 meter relay team was second at Nike Indoor Nationals last month.

Zachary Davidson, Roslyn, Jr.

Davidson cleared 12 feet, 6 inches in the pole vault at last spring’s outdoor state championships.

Matthew DeCicco, Hewlett, Jr.

DeCicco ran the 110-meter hurdles in 15.17 seconds at last year’s outdoor state championships.

Dylan Donegan, Hicksville, Sr.

Donegan finished third (22.70) in the 200 meters and fourth (11.02) in the 100 meters at the Nassau state qualifier last spring.

Sedgeley Duperval, Valley Stream North, Sr.

Duperval placed 11th in the long jump at the outdoor state championships last spring.

Lucas Flore, Eastport-South Manor, Sr.

Flore ran the 100 meters in 11.01 and finished 16th at the outdoor state championships last spring.

Jahmar Francis, Huntington, Sr.

Francis won the Suffolk Large School indoor championship in the 600 in 1:23.91.

John Frazier, South Side, Sr.

Frazier leaped 43 feet, 2 inches and placed fourth in the triple jump at the Nassau Class AA Championships last spring.

Charlie Garcia, Hampton Bays, Sr.

Garcia is the defending Suffolk Class C 200 meter champion.

Jake Gogarty, Bay Shore, Sr.

Gogarty ran 3,200 meters in 9:07.93 and finished second at the outdoor state championships last spring. He finished 12th in the 5,000 meters (15:00.93) at Nike Indoor Nationals last month.

Aidan Hanratty, Glenn, Sr.

Last spring, Hanratty finished 15th in the pentathlon at the state championships with a score of 2,763. He finished fourth in the pentathlon high jump (5 feet, 9 3/4 inches).

Trevor Hayes, Westhampton, Sr.

Hayes finished fifth in the 2,000 meter steeplechase in 6:07.78 at Nike Outdoor Nationals last June.

Michael Huebner, Shoreham-Wading River, Jr.

Huebner finished 10th in the 600 meters (1:22.43) at the indoor state championships this winter. He placed 16th in the 800 (1:57.42) at last year’s outdoor state championships.

Dominic Inzerilla, Mepham, Sr.

Inzerilla ran a 10.90 to place second in the Division I 100 meters at the Nassau state qualifier last spring. This past winter, he ran a 6.50 to place second at the indoor state qualifier.

Joshua Jordan, Floyd, Jr.

Jordan ran a 6.54 in the 55 meters at the indoor state championships last month.

Jason Kerber, Oceanside, Sr.

Kerber ran Bethpage State Park's 5-kilometer course in 15:35 to finish second at the Nassau Class A state qualifier last fall.

Omek Kumar, Oyster Bay, Sr.

Kumar finished 26th in the 3,000 meter steeplechase in 10:44.46 at the outdoor state championships last year.

Robby Levy, North Shore, Sr.

Levy finished second in 4:33.93 in the 1,600 meters and third in 10:00.33 in the 3,200 meters at the Nassau Class A Championships last spring.

Brian Liebowitz, Ward Melville, Sr.

Liebowitz placed second in 9:38.11 in the 3,200 meters at the Suffolk Class AA Championships last spring and won the Suffolk indoor large school 3,200 meter championship in 9:52.23 this winter.

Evans Linzey, Kellenberg, Sr.

Linzey won titles in the 55 (6.65 seconds) and the 300 (36.47) at the NSCHSAA indoor championships this winter.

Leyton Mangialmele, Shoreham-Wading River, So.

Mangialmele jumped 19 feet, 4 3/4 inches to finish 20th at the state championship last spring.

Braden McCormick, Smithtown East, Sr.

McCormick cleared 6 feet, 4 inches to place second in the high jump at this winter's Suffolk Large School championships.

Collin McLaughlin, St. Anthony’s, Sr.

McLaughlin, a member of Newsday's All-Long Island cross country team last fall, ran 3,200 meters in 10:04.56 to win at the NSCHSAA indoor championships.

Jack Morelli, St. Anthony’s, Sr.

Morelli, a Boston College commit, ran 3,200 meters in 9:15.88 to finish 11th at the outdoor state championships last year.

Myles Munro, Seaford, Jr.

Munro was first in 9:57.86 in the Division II 3,200 meters and placed second in 4:34.98 in the Division II 1,600 meters at the Nassau state qualifying meet last spring.

Joseph Norrby, East Islip, Jr.

Norrby placed second in the 600 meters in 1:23.44 at the Suffolk Small School indoor championships in February.

Matthew Papajohn, Hampton Bays, Sr.

Papajohn ran the 400 meters in 50.35 seconds and finished 10th at the outdoor state championships last spring.

Josiah Patterson, Islip, Jr.

Patterson placed third in the discus with a 125 foot, 7 inch toss at the Suffolk Class B outdoor championships. He finished 12th (148-4) at last year’s state championship.

Josiah Price, West Babylon, Jr.

Price ran 48.7 to win the 400 at the Suffolk State Qualifier last spring.

Jordon Quinn, Freeport, Sr.

The defending 110-hurdles outdoor state champion. Quinn won in 14.15 seconds last June.

Quinn Ringstad, Babylon, Sr.

Ringstad finished 18th in the high jump, clearing 6 feet, 2 inches at last year’s outdoor state championships. He cleared 6 feet, 3/4 of an inch to place 13th at Nike Indoor Nationals this winter.

Logan Schaeffler, Calhoun, Sr.

Schaeffler set a Bethpage State Park 5-kilometer course record of 15:22.8 this fall. He is the two-time indoor 1,600 meter champion.

Jon Seyfert, Ward Melville, Jr.

Seyfert finished second in the 1,600 meter (4:24.54) at the Suffolk AA championship last spring.

Patrick Shea, Shoreham-Wading River, Jr.

Shea qualified for the state championships in the 3,000 meter steeplechase and ran a 10:17.82 as a sophomore last spring.

Georgios Stergiopoulos, Chaminade, So.

Stergiopoulos chucked the shot put 53 feet, 5 inches to win the NSCHSAA championship this winter.

Noah St. George, Massapequa, Sr.

St. George cleared 6 feet, 5 inches in the high jump at this winter and helped lead Massapequa to its first indoor track county championship in 55 years.

Tardugno won the 1,600 meters in 4:29.09 at the Nassau Class C championship this winter.

Thalheimer ran 800 meters in 1:58.55 and placed second among Class AA runners at the Indoor Nassau championships this winter.

Jhavani Thompson, Connetquot, Sr.

Thompson ran 100 meters in 11.01 seconds and finished 14th at the outdoor state championships last spring.

Nick Vought, Commack, Sr.

Vought won the 300 meters in 36.51 seconds at the Suffolk League II championships in the winter.

Brad Zhao, Wheatley, Sr.

Zhao placed 17th in the pentathlon 1,500 meters in 5:07.88 at the state championship last spring.
