The Nassau County Police Department homicide squad is investigating a fatal motorcycle accident that occurred on Saturday involving a 31-year-old St. Albans man who authorities said was attempting to do wheelies on the second level of the elevated parking area at the Roosevelt Field mall in Garden City.

Police, who declined to identify the victim, said the man was driving his 2014 Suzuki motorcycle shortly before 9 p.m. in the northeast parking area when he lost control of the motorcycle and struck the retaining wall.

He was then ejected from the motorcycle and fell about 20 feet to the ground and suffered several injuries, police said. He was pronounced dead by a staff physician at a hospital.
