Glenn Wayne Bakery is no longer family owned.

The Bohemia-based wholesale manufacturer of baked goods sold in metropolitan area cafes, delis, gas stations, restaurants and convenience stores, including 7-Eleven, has been acquired by Tide Rock, a private equity firm based in California, according to a statement from Tide Rock.

"We are excited to add Glenn Wayne Bakery to the Tide Rock portfolio and help this successful company reach the next stage of growth. Glenn Wayne has tremendous opportunity to broaden its customer base and explore additional opportunities for expansion," Brooks Kincaid, president of Tide Rock, said in the statement.

Glenn Wayne Bakery did not respond to requests for comment.

The company’s sale was finalized this month, but the price is not being publicly disclosed, Tide Rock told Newsday.

Glenn Wayne Bakery employs more than 100 people in administration and management, production, quality, warehouse, transportation, mechanical and other roles, Tide Rock said. There are no job cuts planned, the firm said.

Brothers-in-law Glenn Alessi and Wayne Stelz founded Glenn Wayne Wholesale Bakery Inc., which does business as Glenn Wayne Bakery, in 1990.

"From our humble beginnings in a 1,000-square-foot building, we have always prioritized innovation and quality. Over the years, we’ve invested heavily in building a strong business with high quality products, operationally efficient processes and well-run facilities. ... We look forward to working with Tide Rock to continue this legacy and achieve greater growth," Alessi said in a statement.

Since its founding, Glenn Wayne Bakery has relocated several times, including its last move to a 40,000-square-foot facility at 1800 Arctic Ave. in Bohemia in 2008.

The company manufactures doughnuts, muffins, cookies and other baked goods that are sold under its own name, and it makes products for other food companies. Products are supplied to local and regional customers with daily fresh deliveries and national brands with thaw-to-serve baked goods, according to Tide Rock.

Glenn Wayne Bakery also has an outlet that sells discounted baked goods to the general public Tuesday through Sunday.

In July, Alessi opened Glenn’s Donuts in Selden. Doughnuts made fresh daily at Glenn Wayne Bakery’s Bohemia site are transported by truck to the Selden shop, Alessi told Newsday in July.

Glenn Wayne Bakery’s 40,000-square-foot building and a 6,000-square-foot warehouse "provide ample expansion opportunities and are strategically located near priority distributors and customers," Tide Rock said in the statement.

Based in Solana Beach in northern San Diego County, Tide Rock focuses on acquiring business-to-business companies with strong free cash flow that are in the manufacturing, distribution and services industries, the company said.
