H2M acquires Pacheco Ross, specialist in firehouse design

H2M architects + engineers, a Melville consulting and design firm, has acquired Pacheco Ross Architects, which specializes in designing firehouses and police and ambulance stations, the company said Tuesday.

Financial terms were not disclosed. The acquisition of the 24-year-old, six-person boutique firm based in Albany closed Oct. 1, said Lori Anne De Iulio Casdia, H2M’s director of marketing.

Rich Humann, president and chief executive of H2M, said the acquisition of Pacheco Ross Architects broadens his company’s skill set.

“PRA’s expertise within the emergency response market will surely bring H2M’s service-line to the next level,” he said in a statement.

David Pacheco, co-owner of Pacheco Ross, said in a statement that the combination of former competitors presents “great opportunities, future possibilities and benefits to our clients.”

H2M, with New York offices in Melville, Riverhead, White Plains, Manhattan, Suffern and Albany, and New Jersey offices in Howell and Parsippany, has added more than 100 employees since 2015 through a combination of new hires and small acquisitions, De Iulio Casdia said.

“We’ve been growing by leaps and bounds,” she said. “We’re continuing to look at other organizations and other areas to expand.”

The 83-year-old firm operates in markets such as education, energy, industrial, municipal, wastewater and water.

In the higher education sphere, H2M has worked on projects for two Long Island institutions, Farmingdale State College and Stony Brook University.

H2M operates in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut and Pennsylvania.
