Q. Is my new-car Pontiac warranty still good on a 2-year-old Solstice? How long is the convertible top warrantied on a Pontiac Solstice? It was purchased new less than two years ago.

A. Pontiac may be gone, but GM is alive and well -- and honoring warranties on Pontiacs, as well as Saturns and Hummers, the other brands it discontinued recently.

As for the convertible top on your Solstice, that should be covered by the three-year/36,000-miles basic warranty, but GM advises to check the warranty booklet that came with the car for specific coverage and exclusions. You should be able to get warranty work done at any GM dealer -- Chevrolet, Buick, Cadillac, GMC -- though they may not have some parts in stock.
