Dr. Luis Carlos Zapata of Forest Hills has been elected as a councilor for the nonprofit Medical Society of the State of New York. He is an attending physician in the Nassau University Medical Center emergency department and a core faculty member of the center's emergency medicine residency program in East Meadow.
Olga El Sehamy of Commack has been hired as director of Adelante of Suffolk County in Central Islip, an affiliate of Family Residences and Essential Enterprises in Old Bethpage. She was senior program manager at Ametek Aerospace and Defense in Garden City.
Corinne Hammons of Setauket has been hired as executive director of Little Flower Children and Family Services of New York in Wading River, Brooklyn and Queens. She was a vice president of Community Development Corp. of Long Island in Centereach.
