Late artist Andy Warhol's former oceanfront estate in Montauk is on the market for $85 million.
Warhol entertained Mick Jagger, Elizabeth Taylor, John Lennon and other celebrities at the 30-acre compound, according to a co-listing with Paul Brennan of Douglas Elliman Real Estate and Edward Petrie of Sotheby's International Realty. Warhol died in February 1987.
"The most unique property on the East End, if not the world," says Brennan. "Try to find a duplicate."
Property records show that the properties that make up the compound belong to the Drexler 2008 Family Trust, Katherine Drexler and Peggy F. Drexler. It was widely reported in 2007 that Mickey Drexler, the chairman and chief executive of the J.Crew Group, bought the property.
Eothen, as the property is known, means "from the east" in Greek. It contains a 24-acre equestrian farm with two restored barns that were built in the 1920s. There is also a house, plus six cottages.
