A 21.9-acre peninsula on Asharoken's Duck Island recently sold for $7 million, according to real estate records.

The last asking price for the property was $8 million. It first came on the market in 2011 for $12 million.

The buyer was John Rittenhouse, a London resident who runs EDF Trading. The Asharoken native's father is a former village police commissioner; his mother sat on the village's zoning board.

He has told Newsday that he plans to move to the property -- Asharoken's second largest -- when he retires.

Michelle Glennon of Laffey Fine Homes brought Rittenhouse to the sale. Jacqueline Lewisy of Signature Premier Properties listed the property.

There is an 11-bedroom, 6-1/2-bath Swedish Manor-style house that is 6,722 square feet.

The property includes a barn, guesthouse, wine cellar, private beach and pond. There is also a baseball field.
