1904 Colonial in Shoreham with horse barn asks $1.15 million
A 5,000-square-foot, six-bedroom, 4½-bath Colonial with a carriage house and horse barn on 2 acres in Shoreham is on the market for $1.149 million.
Built in 1904 on Hillcrest Drive, the home features six wood-burning fireplaces, beadboard ceiling and an antique farmhouse sink in the eat-in kitchen, hardwood floors, crown molding and cathedral ceilings. The exterior walls, made of cement, are 8 inches thick.
“It’s certainly one-of-a-kind,” said listing agent Nicholas Aliano of Aliano Real Estate. “People don’t build houses like this anymore.”
There is a large entry hall, with one side leading to the living room with a fireplace and French doors to a solarium. The other side leads to the dining room with a fireplace and French doors to a parlor and the kitchen.
The second floor has the main bedroom suite with a fireplace, bathroom and French doors to a balcony, as well as two more bedrooms a former staff room being used as a den.
On the third floor, which was renovated a few years ago, there are two bedrooms, one of which is in a junior suite with a new full bath.
The sellers have owned the property since 1999 and are moving closer to family, Aliano said.
The carriage house, which probably had been a stablehand's residence, has two bedrooms in a loft, a bathroom, a two-stall horse barn, a one-car garage and a training ring.
Taxes on the property, which is in the Shoreham-Wading River Central School District, are $30,262.
