Former estate of John Randolph Hearst for sale: $59M
A 15-acre waterfront property in Southampton that was once part of the late newspaper publisher John Randolph Hearst’s estate is on the market for $59 million.
The asking price includes golf fairways created with imported grass.
The seven-bedroom, 7 1⁄2-bath home was built in the 1980s. Its 6,500 square feet include a salon designed by architect Frank Gehry.
There is a tennis court, pool and cabana as well as three buildable lots, two of which have views of Lake Agawam.
Hearst was one of five sons of American newspaper publisher William Randolph Hearst, one of the inspirations for the character of Charles Foster Kane in the 1941 film “Citizen Kane.” He was once the publisher of the New York Daily Mirror, the president of Harper’s Bazaar and managed the family’s radio business. He died in 1958 of a heart attack at the age of 49.
The property is listed with Tim Davis of The Corcoran Group and Deborah Srb of Sotheby’s International Realty.
