News Corp. chairman and chief executive  Rupert Murdoch finally has some good news this side of the Atlantic.

Rosehearty, the 11-bedroom Centre Island Colonial that’s been on and off the market since 2007, has sold, according to the Daniel Gale Sotheby’s International Realty website.

The price listed is $9.1 million. The sale went through on Sept. 20.

Listing agents for Daniel Gale were Huailing Deng and Debra Quinn Petkanas. Deng, who identified herself to Newsday as the sister of Murdoch’s wife, Wendi Deng, confirmed that the sale had closed. Selling agents in the deal were Bonnie Devendorf and Christina Porter, also with Daniel Gale.

The home first hit the market at $14.8 million four year ago. Since then, the price had dropped incrementally and the home was taken off the market a few times, most notably when it was rented out to celebrity couple Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie in 2008. The couple reportedly paid $100,000 to lease the compound for a month while Jolie filmed scenes for the movie “Salt” nearby.

Although Murdoch cut nearly $6 million from his original asking price, he still walks away with a profit. Records show he paid $7.8 million for the mansion in 2003.

Rosehearty, built in 1885,  has 4.5 acres, has 11 bedrooms, 7½ baths, 7 fireplaces, tennis courts and 260 feet of beachfront property.

Murdoch recently testified before Parliament on his connection to Britain’s phone hacking scandal.
