Actress Denise Richards comes from a strong Roman Catholic background. In a 2008 People magazine interview, the former model is quoted as saying: "[Charlie Sheen and I] also battled over the girls being baptized. Charlie and I had a Catholic wedding ceremony, which he knew was so important to me, but then he didn't want to baptize our daughters. Sam is baptized; Lola still is not."

Ariana Grande

Ariana Grande has "one less problem" after leaving the Catholic church because it didn't accept her openly-gay brother, "Big Brother" contestant Frankie Grande. "When my brother was told that God didn't love him I was like, 'OK, that's not cool,'" Grande recalled to The Telegraph. Now, the siblings are practicing Kabbalah.

Rosie O’Donnell

During a 2014 discussion with the hosts of "The View", openly gay Rosie O'Donnell confessed she is "a recovering Catholic." During the same discussion, O'Donnell said she would not baptize her son, Parker, because "well, the gay church, they don't really accept me. So, I didn't want to bring my kid, christen him into something where they're going to speak against the evils of their mom. So, it was a big point for me as well, the rejection of homosexuality and the lack of Christian attitudes."

Madonna

Though she was raised Roman Catholic in Michigan, Madonna hasn't exactly tread carefully with the Vatican, which condemned her 1990 "Blond Ambition" tour for its choreography that simulated sex. Religious leaders were previously outraged by the imagery (including stigmata and burning crosses) in her 1989 video for "Like A Prayer." But during Pope Francis' September 2015 visit to the U.S., Madge praised the "open-minded" church leader, dedicating a section of her Philadelphia concert to him.

Bruce Springsteen

Not only was rock legend Bruce Springsteen raised in a Roman Catholic home, but many of his lyrics are rich with theological references, as one Rutgers University professor highlights in his "Bruce Springsteen Theology" course.

Celine Dion

Celine Dion, raised Roman Catholic in Quebec, Canada, seems to now interpret the religion more loosely, saying in a 2014 interview, "For me, God is life itself, the birds, the air, the sunrise and the sunset, the children. Yes, that is where I find God. Not in a church."
