Flavor Flav arrested on charges including DUI, marijuana possession
Rapper Flavor Flav, who had traffic-stop troubles here on his native Long Island last year, was arrested early Thursday on charges including drunken driving and marijuana possession.
Nevada Highway Patrol spokesman Loy Hixson told The Associated Press that Flav -- born William Drayton Jr. in Roosevelt and raised from a young age in Freeport -- was pulled over in a 2005 BMW near McCarran International Airport about 12:30 a.m. going 73 mph in a 45 mph zone. Flav lives in nearby Las Vegas.
According to records at the Clark County Detention Center, the rapper and reality TV star, 56, was booked on six misdemeanors: driving under the influence; speeding; displaying a bogus vehicle registration/plate/title; driving with a suspended license; possession of less than one ounce of marijuana; and having an open container of alcohol in a vehicle.
Bail was set at $1,000 for each charge except the DUI, which was $2,000.
A founding member of 2013 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees Public Enemy, Flav pleaded not guilty in Mineola on Jan. 28, 2014, to charges including unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and marijuana possession, stemming from a speeding arrest earlier that month on the Meadowbrook State Parkway. Flav had been driving to his mother's funeral at the time of that arrest.
