"The Blind Side" star Quinton Aaron says being removed from a flight for being overweight is spurring his plans to diet.

The 6-foot-8 Aaron, 29, who weighs more than 500 pounds, was removed from a US Airways flight between Philadelphia and Rochester on Friday, said TMZ.com.

The actor told ABC News that while he normally flies first class, no seats in that section were available.

He bought a coach ticket, but, he said, "As I saw the seats, I'm literally hoping that no one had to sit next to me, because I knew it wasn't going to work if they did."

Another passenger did arrive and Aaron was asked to take a subsequent flight, where he could book two coach seats.

"I just grabbed my bag and just got off as quick as possible because it was embarrassing," he told ABC.

He added that he was viewing the experience as an incentive to lose weight.

"I live in California. I want to go to the beach in the summertime with a tank top on and have girls chasing me down the beach one day," he said.

In "The Blind Side," Bronx-born Aaron played the role of real-life Michael Oher, an essentially homeless 17-year-old taken in by a wealthy family, who began playing college football with their encouragement and has since become a successful NFL pro.

The actor has also appeared in TV shows including "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit," "Harry's Law" and "One Tree Hill" and in the 2013 comedy "Paranormal Movie."
